Asıl adı Nebahat Çehre, (göbek adı Hilal) 15 Mart 1945'de Samsun'da doğdu... 15 yaşındayken "Türkiye güzeli" seçildi. Fotomodellik ve mankenlik yaparken gelen teklifler üzerine 1962'de sinemada ilk rolünü oynayarak profesyonelliğe adım atan sanatçı, kısa sürede bir çok film çevirdi. 1964'te Yılmaz Güney'le tanışarak bir filmde rol aldı, 1967'de iki sanatçı evlendi. Bir süre sinemayı bıraktı. Yılmaz Güney'den boşanınca tekrar kamera önünde yer aldı. Kendi deyimiyle "'çoğu ayağı yere basmayan" filmlerde oynadı. Seks filmleri furyasında sahneye çıkarak şarkıcılık yaptı. İkinci evliliğinde yine sanat hayatına ara verdi, boşanınca bu kez tv dizilerinde rol aldı.

Nebahat Cehre (her "belly name" - a name given to a newborn baby when cutting its umbilical cord - is Hilal) was born on 15 March 1945 in Samsun, Turkey... At the age of 15 she was chosen as Turkey's Beauty Queen in the Miss World Beauty Pageant. As she did both photography and fashion modelling, she began to receive offers to play in films and in 1962, debuted in her first film and within a short amount of time, filmed many movies. In the year 1964, Nebahat Cehre met Yilmaz Guney, and acted at his side in a film. In 1967, the two artists married one another. At this stage she left cinema for a period of time. After her divorce from Yilmaz Guney, she took her place in front of the camera again. With Nebahat Cehre's own words, the characters which she played in films were "girls whose feet never touched the ground". With the boom of sex films in Turkey, she took her place on stage and began singing instead. She took a break from artistry with her second marriage, and after divorcing, played roles in television soap opera shows.
